Deeply Textured Black & White Oilspot Cup I
Hand-carved deeply textured ceramic cup in black and white oilspot. A sensationally sensory cup for coffee, tea, whiskey, or whatever else you want to drink from it.
Made with iterations of Kurinuki techniques, local Starworks white stoneware clay, and food safe glazes. Fired in an electric kiln. Watch the video for a 360° view, including interior and base, and size relative to my hand. Approximately 4in tall, 4in wide.
This listing is for the unique piece in the accompanying images and video. Any accessories shown are not included. Please see FAQs for use & care recommendations.
Please note that the interior (and exterior) of this piece has a texture that includes tiny spots which might trap minuscule bits of food or liquid. Therefore, thorough but gentle cleaning may be more involved than for pieces with other interior textures. This texture also means that it is not recommended for use as dinnerware even though it is food safe (i.e., don’t scrape at it with a utensil). I regularly use a chawan/cup/bowl with the same glazes and a similar interior texture, most often for tea, grapes, cherries, etc. I don’t use it for meat, gooey things that would likely seep into the crevices that would be difficult to clean, or other such foods. I also clean it immediately after use.
